Booking & Payment FAQs

How much does a Vaishno Devi package cost?

Our packages start from ₹6,499 per person for the 3-day/2-night Darshan Express (hotel + transport + darshan assistance included), up to ₹18,999 for the 6-day Vaishno Devi + Kashmir combo. See the exact starting price for each package above, or read our full line-by-line cost breakdown for hotel, transport, and helicopter rates.

Are these Vaishno Devi package prices for 2026?

Yes — every price on this page reflects our current 2026 rates for hotel, transport, and meals. Helicopter fares are set directly by the Shrine Board and shown at their latest published rate. Build your exact trip in the wizard for a live, itemised 2026 price against your dates and group size.

Does the tour package price include hotel accommodation?

Yes — every package we list includes hotel stay in Katra as standard, along with transport and darshan assistance. You choose the hotel category (budget, deluxe, or premium) in the wizard, and the price updates live so you know exactly what you're paying for before booking.

Is there a Vaishno Devi package with helicopter included?

Yes — our Helicopter Special package includes helicopter both ways, hotel, and transport for a 2-day/1-night trip. You can also add a helicopter to any other package (Darshan Express, Patnitop Combo, or Kashmir Combo) in the wizard, subject to Shrine Board slot availability.

How do I book my Vaishno Devi darshan package online?

Build your itinerary in our 2-minute wizard — pick your city, hotel category, and helicopter preference, and see a live day-wise price. No advance payment is needed to get your custom darshan package; once you're happy with it, we confirm hotel and helicopter availability before you pay anything.

Do I need to pay in advance to book with you?

No advance is required to get your custom itinerary and price — that part is always free. Advance payment is only discussed once you are happy with the plan and need to lock in hotel or helicopter inventory.

What payment methods do you accept?

We share available payment options — bank transfer, UPI, or a secure payment link — when confirming your booking. No card details are ever collected over chat.

Is my booking refundable if my plans change?

Refund terms depend on how close to travel you cancel and whether hotel/helicopter inventory has already been locked in on your behalf — see our Refund Policy for the full terms.

How do I confirm helicopter or hotel availability before paying?

Our travel expert confirms live availability with the hotel and (where applicable) helicopter operator before you are asked to pay anything.

Will I get a confirmation after booking?

Yes — you will receive a written confirmation with your itinerary, hotel details, and any booking references over WhatsApp.

Can I modify my itinerary after booking?

In most cases yes, subject to availability — reach out to your travel expert on WhatsApp as early as possible if your plans change.

Choosing the right Vaishno Devi package

What a package actually saves you

A Vaishno Devi trip looks simple on paper and turns complicated in practice. You need a hotel in Katra that has rooms on your dates, a way to get from Jammu or the railway station to the hotel, a plan for the early start, advice on the climb and, if you want it, help with the Shrine Board's helicopter and registration processes. Each is easy alone. Together, for a family travelling from another state, they eat evenings of research and invite mistakes.

A package bundles the hotel and local transport into one itemised price and one plan. It does not replace the Shrine Board's own services. Registration is free and official, and helicopter tickets and room bookings on the mountain are issued by the Shrine Board at maavaishnodevi.org. We are a private tour planner, and we help you plan around those services and complete them.

The four starting points, and who they suit

The packages on this page are starting points. Each opens pre-filled in the wizard, where you can change almost anything. Here is how to think about them.

  • 2N/3D Darshan Express. The standard three-day, two-night trip: a night before the climb, the climb and darshan, and a night after. It suits first-time pilgrims, families and anyone who wants the full experience without hurry. It is the plan we recommend to most people.
  • Helicopter Special. A shorter two-day, one-night plan built around the helicopter to Sanjichhat. It suits people short of time, and travellers with elders who cannot manage the lower part of the climb. Remember that the helicopter lands at Sanjichhat, not the Bhawan, so you still walk about 2.5 km, and that a one-night plan leaves little room to rest.
  • Vaishno Devi + Patnitop. Four days and three nights, adding a day at the hill station of Patnitop. It suits families who want a gentle rest day in cool air after the climb, and travellers in winter who want to see snow.
  • Vaishno Devi + Kashmir. Six days and five nights, adding Srinagar and Gulmarg. It suits couples, friends and families who want to turn the yatra into a longer holiday. Allow spare days, since mountain roads can close in bad weather.

How the price is built

The figures shown are starting prices per person, and they depend on choices you make. The main levers are the hotel category (Budget, Deluxe, Premium or Luxury), the number of travellers, how you travel to Jammu or Katra, whether you add a helicopter, and which extras you choose. Hotel rooms are priced per room per night, and local transport per day.

Two travellers sharing a room in a Deluxe hotel pay less per person than a solo traveller, and a family of four sharing one room pays less again. A helicopter adds a fixed fare per person, set by the Shrine Board. Extra days for places like Patnitop or Kashmir add hotel nights, meals and transport. Our trip cost guide shows every line with worked examples, so you can see how a number is reached before you accept it.

Starting prices are headlines. Your final price is shown in the wizard as an itemised quote, and our team confirms it before anything is booked.

What is not in the price

It helps to know what a package does not cover, because surprises at the end of a trip are the ones people remember.

  • Getting to Jammu or Katra. Train, flight or road travel to the region is usually priced separately, and varies enormously by city and season. Our city pages, such as Delhi and Mumbai, explain the options and starting prices.
  • Helicopter and battery car tickets. These are Shrine Board services. Their fares are fixed and published, and tickets are issued through the Shrine Board's process. See our helicopter guide and battery car guide.
  • Ponies, palkis and porters. These are provided by registered handlers at fixed rates, paid at official counters on the day.
  • Meals, prasad and personal spending. Depending on the plan, meals may be included or estimated. Prasad, gifts and offerings are personal and vary.
  • Entry fees and activities on extras. Boating, cable cars, ponies and similar activities are paid on the spot and vary by season.

Choosing the hotel category

The hotel is the largest single choice inside a package. Budget rooms are clean and private but plain. Deluxe adds space and often a restaurant or breakfast. Premium adds a lift, more consistent service and sometimes a spa. Luxury adds a pool, a spa and suites.

A useful rule is to spend where you will be awake in the room. If you are asleep by nine and out by four, a simple hotel is enough. If you plan a rest day, or travel with elders and children, a more comfortable hotel earns its price. Our Katra hotels guide compares every hotel we work with, and the Top 10 gives a quick shortlist.

Choosing the length of the trip

Two nights is the minimum we recommend, and three is better if you can. The extra night is what separates a pilgrimage you remember warmly from one you remember as exhausting. If you are flying from far away, add a day for travel. If you are adding places, add a day for each major one.

Do not shorten the plan by skipping the rest night after the climb. It is cheaper to skip a sightseeing stop than to arrive home drained.

Travelling with elders, children or a large group

Tell us at the start. For elders, we plan transport for each stage: a helicopter or battery car for part of the route, a pony or palki where needed, and a hotel with a lift. For children, we suggest a family room and a plan that keeps sleep and meals regular. For large groups, shared vehicles and hotel blocks lower the per-person cost, and a single coordinator makes life easier.

The wizard asks for traveller counts and ages so the quote reflects who is really going. Children over a certain age pay the full fare for some Shrine Board services, and under-fives travel free on the battery car, so details matter.

How to book

Choose the package closest to your plan and open it in the Build My Yatra wizard. Change the hotel, dates, travellers and extras, and watch the price update. When you are happy, submit your details, and our team will confirm availability, send a final itemised quote and walk you through the Shrine Board steps. No advance payment is needed to get a quote.

If you prefer to talk, message us on WhatsApp with your dates and group, and we will build a plan for you. Whichever way you start, we recommend registering for the free yatra RFID card on the evening you arrive in Katra, and booking the helicopter, if you want it, as soon as the Shrine Board's window opens.

Questions we are asked most often

A few short answers.

  • Is registration included?. Yatra registration is free and issued by the Shrine Board. We help you complete it, but there is no charge for the card.
  • Can I change the plan after booking?. Usually yes, subject to hotel and transport availability. Tell us as early as possible.
  • What if the weather stops the yatra?. The Shrine Board suspends services when conditions are unsafe, and refunds its own tickets in such cases. Keep your hotel and travel bookings flexible in the monsoon and winter.
  • Do prices change at Navratri?. Availability tightens and some rates rise. Book early for festival dates.
  • Is a package cheaper than booking myself?. Sometimes, especially for groups. The bigger saving is time and avoided mistakes.
