Vaishno Devi Tour Package from Bangalore
Everything you need to plan your yatra from Bangalore — route options, a sample itinerary, and a tour package price starting from ₹11,499.
This page is for Bengaluru families, IT professionals and groups planning one of the longest routes to Katra. At nearly 2,700 km, planning matters more here than on almost any other city, so we build the plan around the flight connection.
We are a private tour planner, not the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Helicopter tickets, yatra registration and other Shrine Board services are official and booked at maavaishnodevi.org; we help you plan and complete them.
How to Reach Vaishno Devi from Bangalore
By Flight
Direct and one-stop flights to Jammu take roughly 3–4 hours depending on connections.
By Train
Some direct trains connect Bangalore to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) station, but journey times are long; connecting trains to Jammu Tawi run 36–40+ hours — flying is strongly recommended over rail for this distance.
By Road
At over 2,700 km, driving is not practical from Bangalore.
At nearly 2,700 km, this is the route where flying makes the biggest practical difference — a 3-4 hour flight versus a rail journey that can stretch past two full days once you account for the connection at Guntakal.
There's no single direct service — most rail itineraries connect via Guntakal Junction, and total journey time (including the change) can run well past 48 hours depending on the connection. For a distance this long, flying isn't just faster, it's usually the more comfortable choice too.
- Airport and stations. Flights leave from Kempegowda International Airport at Devanahalli, which is far from Electronic City and Whitefield, so plan the cab carefully. Rail departures toward the north use KSR Bengaluru, Yesvantpur or SMVT Bengaluru depending on the service.
- Flight vs train, for Bangalore. There is no single direct train. Most rail itineraries change at a junction such as Guntakal and can run past 48 hours in total. Flying takes 3 to 4 hours plus a connection, and is far more comfortable, so we recommend it for almost everyone.
- Why one connection is normal. Expect one stop, often at Delhi. Book a morning departure from Bengaluru, and avoid a connection shorter than two hours.

Sample Itinerary Starting from Bangalore
- Day 0
Bengaluru: airport run
Plan the drive to Devanahalli for off-peak hours if you can. Bring warm layers, since the change from Bengaluru weather to Bhawan is sharp.
- Day 1
Fly to Jammu, cab to Katra
Land in Jammu by afternoon or evening, take the cab of around an hour to Katra, and go straight to bed.
- Day 2
Rest and orientation
Use the day to register for the yatra, collect your slip if needed, and walk the market. This is the buffer that makes the climb easier.
- Day 3
Darshan day
Start early, pace yourself, and use ponies or battery cars where needed. Helicopter tickets are issued through the Shrine Board's process at maavaishnodevi.org, and we can guide you.
- Day 4
Rest and start the return
Spend the morning at the hotel, then head to Jammu for the flight home. Do not schedule a same-evening flight after a day of walking.
Practical Tips for Bangalore Travellers
- Four nights beat three. Bangalore trips need a rest day before the climb. Squeezing darshan into the arrival day is the most common mistake.
- Devanahalli takes time. From Whitefield or Electronic City the airport run can take 90 minutes or more in traffic. Plan accordingly.
- Buy fares early. Fares from the south to Jammu climb steeply close to travel dates, especially around Dussehra and Diwali.
- Cold at altitude. Bengaluru travellers often underestimate how cold Bhawan is at night, even in shoulder months. Pack a jacket, cap and socks.
When to Travel from Bangalore
Because the trip is expensive, avoid peak periods. Early March and late October are good shoulder windows. Bengaluru long weekends around Ugadi, Dussehra and Deepavali are busy, so book flights early.

FAQs for Bangalore Travellers
How many days do I need for Vaishno Devi from Bangalore?
Plan on four days. One day to travel, one for rest in Katra, one for darshan and one to return. Three days leaves no room if a flight is delayed.
Is there a direct train from Bangalore to Katra?
There is no single direct service. Most rail itineraries change at a junction and can take well over two days, so flying is the practical choice.
Is it cheaper to fly to Delhi and continue by train?
It can be, especially in peak season, but it adds a day and a lot of luggage handling. If you do this, leave a comfortable gap between the flight and the onward train.
Which Bengaluru station do northbound trains use?
It depends on the train: KSR Bengaluru, Yesvantpur or SMVT Bengaluru. Confirm the boarding station on IRCTC.
Can a group from Bangalore book together?
Yes. Groups usually pay less per head because vehicles and hotel rooms are shared. Enter your group size in the wizard for a quote.
