Vaishno Devi Tour Package from Hyderabad

Everything you need to plan your yatra from Hyderabad — route options, a sample itinerary, and a tour package price starting from ₹10,999.

This page is for Hyderabad and Secunderabad families and groups, many of whom are planning their first trip to the Himalayan foothills. It is a long route where flying is nearly always the right answer, so we focus on making the flights and connections work.

We are a private tour planner, not the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Helicopter tickets, yatra registration and other Shrine Board services are official and booked at maavaishnodevi.org; we help you plan and complete them.

How to Reach Vaishno Devi from Hyderabad

By Flight

Direct and one-stop flights to Jammu take roughly 3–3.5 hours.

By Train

Train journeys from Hyderabad to Jammu Tawi run 30+ hours, plus a 45–60 minute transfer on to Katra — flying is the more practical option.

By Road

At over 2,000 km, driving is not practical from Hyderabad.

Unless your travel dates happen to line up with the weekly train, flying is the practical choice here — it removes the scheduling constraint entirely and cuts a 30+ hour journey down to a few hours.

Good to know

The main named option, the Humsafar Express, runs only once a week on this route — worth checking the current day against your travel dates before assuming a train seat will be available on short notice. This is exactly the kind of long-distance route where flying saves you from planning your whole trip around one weekly departure.

  • Airport and stations. Flights leave from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, which is a long drive from Old City and Secunderabad, so allow extra time. Trains to the north run from Secunderabad, Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) and Kacheguda depending on the service.
  • Flight vs train, for Hyderabad. A train from Hyderabad to Jammu Tawi takes over 30 hours. The Humsafar Express runs only once a week, so your dates must match its day. Flying takes about 3 to 3.5 hours plus a connection, and gives you the choice of any day.
  • Where the connection usually is. Most itineraries connect at Delhi. Avoid a tight layover and prefer an early flight from Hyderabad, so a delay does not push your arrival at Katra into the night.

Sample Itinerary Starting from Hyderabad

  1. Day 0

    Hyderabad: early flight out

Leave home for Shamshabad with generous buffer. Pack for cold weather at altitude, which is a real contrast with Hyderabad, and carry ID for every traveller.

  2. Day 1

Connect to Jammu, cab to Katra

Land at Jammu in the afternoon, then drive for about an hour to Katra. Expect to check in around evening, eat lightly and sleep early.

  3. Day 2

    Darshan day

Start around 4 am. Hyderabad groups often include older parents, so consider a pony or battery car for part of the climb. Helicopter tickets are issued through the Shrine Board's process at maavaishnodevi.org, and we can guide you.

  4. Day 3

    Rest at Katra

Spend the day resting, exploring Katra market and, if time allows, visiting Baba Dhansar. This is the buffer that protects a delayed flight home.

  5. Day 4

    Fly home

Drive to Jammu for your flight back to Hyderabad with a connection. Leave Katra at least four hours before departure.

Practical Tips for Hyderabad Travellers

  • Book four days, not three. A three-day trip has no room for a delayed connection. A fourth night keeps the flight home stress-free.
  • Watch the fare calendar. Flights from the south to Jammu climb steeply close to travel dates. Book early and compare Delhi connections against direct options.
  • Check the Humsafar day. If your dates line up with its weekly day, the train can save money, but do not build the trip around it without a flight as a backup.
  • Pack warm layers. March and November nights at Bhawan can be far colder than Hyderabad expects. A light jacket and socks make a real difference.

When to Travel from Hyderabad

Demand from Hyderabad peaks around Dasara, Diwali and the summer holidays, and fares follow. Early March and early November are quieter, cooler at Bhawan and easier on the wallet. Sankranti weeks are also busy for Telugu families, so book early if you plan a January trip.

FAQs for Hyderabad Travellers

Is there a direct flight from Hyderabad to Jammu?

Sometimes, but frequency changes by season. Most travellers connect through a northern airport, so compare direct and one-stop fares before you decide.

Which Hyderabad station has trains toward Katra?

Trains toward the north run from Secunderabad, Hyderabad Deccan and Kacheguda depending on the service. Confirm the boarding station on IRCTC before booking a cab.

How many days should I plan from Hyderabad?

Four days is comfortable. It lets you arrive, rest, complete darshan, and return without racing a connecting flight.

Is the weekly Humsafar Express reliable?

It is a useful option when your dates match, but it runs only once a week and can sell out. Always have a flight as a backup.

Can a family group from Hyderabad get a discount?

Groups usually pay less per head because vehicles and hotel rooms are shared. Enter your group size in the wizard for a quote.
